Owners Manual

Is there an owner’s manual for a 2017 Cutwater 24? If so, how would I go about obtaining one?

I have discussed the desirability of a manual with the Ranger folks several times, most recently at the Seattle Boat Show. I realize they are very busy, even busier this year by report, and they provide incredible support over the phone and email. However, I am concerned that Ranger may soon become a victim of its own success. At some point I fear that the sheer number of clients, potential and existing, they have to service will begin to tax their ability to provide their current level of support. As well, they deserve their time away from work.
I discussed trying to set up something online, similar to Wikipedia, where multiple sources could contribute their expertise. Ranger could easily provide pictures at different stages of the manufacturing process with the layout of plumbing and electrical systems, electrical diagrams etc. Andrew, Kenny and Ronnie know the most common problems, how to troubleshoot them and would be logical online editors. Most of this information in redundant from model to model. I would think that getting this info available to all would dramatically reduce the number of calls/emails they need to deal with and give them valuable time for their other duties, like selling more Rangers. A manual would be a valuable selling point, at least it would be for me. There are also many Tug owners with extensive experience fixing the myriad of problems that arise and could contribute valuable input if the manual is in an open online format. I suspect that much of the manual could be derived from the contents of this forum.
Unfortunately, I am one of the mechanically challenged and really need a manual like this, particularly living so far away from any marine repair businesses with any experience working on Ranger Tugs. I would most likely download any online manual as our internet access is tenuous at the best of times, and non-existent much of the time.

I very much want to get a manual for my Tug. I can do 95% of the work myself and the Ranger folks are very helpful when you can get them on the phone. My concern is when I am cruising to places where there is no phone access and I have an issue. I have a shop manual for all my cars... I want one for my boat as well. Like has been mentioned, if I have a manual, I don't need to call the factory and they can take care of more important issues. Putting out a manual is a short term labor intensive item for a long term gain in availability for other issues.

Thank you for posting. We can all appreciate the request and need for a manual and I will be the first to admit that this is an area where we need to focus more on. We are close to completing the R29 and R31 manual and the next to be worked on are the R23 and 24. We will be doing a better job of getting these done sooner than later as new models are introduced. Now we find ourselves playing catch up but we will get there. As the new manuals are released, they will be posted in the factory technical bulletins section for download. If someone needed a hard copy, we would also be happy to mail one out.

The comments about being a victim of our own success is something I would strongly disagree with. I started with the company over ten years ago and remember having less than 15 of the original Ranger 25's in the field. I didn't have help until we had close to several hundred in the field when we then added Kenny Marrs to the support team. After that I have added Ivan Guzman, Ralf Henkel, Tim Bates and Kevin Lamont. We are looking to hire more to better support our boats and that is our top priority. I believe that we still remain one of the top supporters in the country as a boat manufacturer and we pride ourselves on that.

New models since 2015 have come without an owner's manual (29S, 23, and most likely the new 27). It seems like the company made a decision in 2015 that it wasn't cost effective to produce owner's manuals. I suspect the only way to get them to change their mind is to have owner's and people considering ownership continually bring this up as something important to them.

I'm curious if this is common in other brands of boats? Do Nordic Tug, American Tug, etc provide an owner's manual for their boats? What is the industry standard?

Andrew, What is this 24 model you are talking about?? :) I assume you meant the 27OB.

Thanks, obviously I am not that familiar with the Cutwater line and I have a 27OB on order so it was also wishful thinking on my part.

Just ordering our 2017 C24 (new "leftover" boat at an east coast dealership) and would really like a Manual. Wasn't much we got back in 2009 when we bought a new R25 either.

That's great news about the impending R29 manual! I look forward to getting it.

I have to give kudos to the RT team though. Even with a manual Andrew and his team will still be a big part of keeping us afloat! On the evening of New Years Eve I was on a mooring in Catalina and two issues popped up, the generator and LPG switch, which meant not being able to run the heater or stove. I texted Andrew and he responded quickly, with the result that we were able to work through the issues successfully! I have not seen this level of service and availability from other manufacturers. Thank you again Andrew!
