Sun Glare from Bow Rail

Has anyone have a cure to reduce sun glare from the bow rail on a RT21EC? On a recent trip I covered the rail with painters tape. That did the job, but was ugly. I'am looking for a permanent cure.
 
Some serious yachties have covers made out of sunbrella. That harkens back to the days when the rails were chromed brass but some people still do it. You could use them for glare protection I suppose if you're that serious about it and have deep pockets. Or you could go to Home Depot and buy some of the foam insulation that comes in 8ft sticks to slip over piping for freeze protection. I use that for chaff protection on the railing and bimini frame.
 
I used split loom corrugated electrical conduit to cover the bow rail. One package of 1inch covered the entire upper rail. Easy on, and can be removed quickly with no glue remaining.

If you mean that black flex armor wrap(labeled tubing in store I think) that's perfect. It can be frustrating to get it on but comes off like a snap. Also a simple idea to minimize glare when using the searchlight (per discussion in a recent thread). I wrap that stuff on every run of wire, hose, or tubing that I can get at. Makes for nice tidy mechanical spaces.

On one of my first early morning (dark) fishing trips I thought I would try out my roof mounted spot light. I was not expecting the blinding reflection off the stainless steel bow rail. I have been meaning to throw in about 4 pieces of foam pipe insulation. I really should put that on my list for next year.
 
I read on this forum in the past,that some people moved their light higher in the mast, as a result, there was less reflections. Another hint was to use water pipe isolation foam.
 
Not only do I have glare from the chrome rails but also the windlass and just a lot of bright white from the forward deck. I don't do a lot of motoring in the dark but there are those occasions where I am running late and need a little light to spot crab pots or look for daymarks.

I manufactured a shroud from a gallon paint can that I store in the cave and can install in a minute with a velcro elastic strap. It gives the spotlight a (surprisingly) nice controlled beam that really cuts the glare. It's not beautiful, but I only use it in the dark. Photos in my album.
