Lights?

Postby SgtAlf on Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:38 pm

I noticed when my house batteries are on (R-23) I have two small lights in the cockpit and two more above the swim step that are on. :o
Are they supposed to be on? If not, how the heck do I turn them off? :?:
Thanks!!

There is a 2 way switch on the Starboard Transom of our boat...It's handy at night when locking up and leaving the cockpit.

WOW! I'm impressed with my smarts...I came across the switch accidentally, I have a couple lawn chairs in the cockpit corners, took some friends for a cruise 6 miles up river to another Marina. On the way there and back the cockpit lights kept coming on and off!!! I thought I had bad wiring and was wondering how hard it would be to rewire the cockpit.

After my Pals left I started looking at the problem. I moved the chair and the lights went on, moved it again and they went off...I found the switch, no wiring problems except between my ears...

I keep finding wonders on Our Tug...Today I found the latch that keeps the head door open...Yesterday I discovered when going in our covered slip I not only have to lower the RADAR Mast but also the antenna...Rhonda pointed it out as I was backing in..."HEY" "What about the Antenna"?

A few week ago we came in to our uncovered slip which we had occupied all winter waiting for the Covered slip...turned the key off, hit the Engine kill switch and that Diesel Engine sound kept thumping...I thought it was like that song running all night long...But no, it was still running...Kidding, I told Rhonda it'd hafta run until it ran outta fuel..she asked how long, I said about 2 weeks! When she pulled the "FOR SALE" sign out of the cave I immediately found the manual lever...Gee!

It's all an adventure...Love it, The previous owners are available locally but a CAPTAIN has to maintain that Know-it-All Command posture.

Well I guess I'm a front yard Captain. That's where she be sittin'. Waiting out our 3rd Nor'easter in 10 days. Needless to say I'm getting antsy. I have a few things I can do between now and April 1 when I can occupy my slip. Come on nice weather!
I'm slowly figuring out how things work. I love a challenge!

I'm glad you were part of the early 70's Army.

Also glad you are in they Ranger Tug Community, I'm very new and hope I have seniority over you, November 2017...Still flippin switches and trying very hard to back out tug into the slip without touching the thrusters...No luck so far, but I don't give up easily. The 25 has absolutely ZERO rudder at slow astern, the wind, current and propwalk are totally in charge. Love it!

I joined Tugnuts on 10/5/2017, you joined 10/25/2017, I have you by 20 days!! :D
10-12 years ago I had an Albin 27 Aft Cabin with a single screw. The trick was to get some maneuvering speed, and be quick on the trans. shifting to forward to stop.
Prior to that I had a 30 Hunter, pulling in one windy day the wind got me broadside and was blowing me sideways down the fairway. I got pissed, threw her into reverse and full throttle drove her backward back up the fairway and made a right, right into my slip like I knew what I was doing! A crowd had gathered to see me wreck, but I got a round of applause instead.
I signed the papers on the R23 on 10/08/2017, sea trail on 10/18/2017 and only brought her home 2 weeks ago.

Damn! Out ranked again...Story of my life! Hope the Ice and Snow clear before July, we are starting our Spring Service next week. I did a full by the book winterization in December, Oh, that's when it finally get's below 70...I signed up for the Parade of Lights for Christmas, Rhonda and I were on the Boat the afternoon before the Parade and I got cold feet. Well, I had not operated the Boat at night and had only had her out 3 times, period...The winds were gusting to 15knots and I decided not to test my Boat Insurance Policy...So I might be considered "Conservative" when it comes to Water Sports...No, I was scared!

I've Operated Large Heavy Boats over 70 feet and over 50 tons, but the Ranger Tug is really Cool to maneuver, she is absolutely textbook and would make an excellent training Vessel. I wonder if I took 3 teenagers out how many would return...

Well, I plan to move to GA late 2019-2020. I've had enough of this weather, and the commies running the state into the ground.

I have 3 daughters, that I know of, one lives with me, one is in Georgetown SC, the other is in Pooler GA, just west of Savannah. WTH am I doing in NJ? I'm thinkin' the end of this year, or maybe June '19 sneaking out of NJ. Gotta sneak because there's an exit tax. I'll most likely end up in Pooler.
