GPS date rollover 4/6/2019

The problem is that data displayed on your chartplotter, such as currents and tides, will be incorrect!

Then I guess not a problem for those of us who don't use a plotter 😉

We have a R25 Classic with Raymarine electronics. Has anyone (meaning factory folks too!) been made aware of the effects of this rollover with the Raymarine stuff? Is there a s/w update needed??

This solved the long term problem for me regarding the date (and tides). it would probably solve any date rollover problem as well.

Joe,

For Raymarine look at their support site, download the file they attached for a list of specific model numbers:

I have an E120 MFD with a RS125 GPS antenna on my Nordic Tug. This is mid 2000 vintage gear. Per Raymarine the RS125 I have should be good through 2022, then I will need to replace the GPS antenna as they are no longer updating this GPS.

A lot of GPS receivers are not impacted specifically on the week rollover date, they have a week offset coded into them so impact dates can vary. Firmware updates can change the offset. Kind of like Excel, if you enter 98 for a year it assumes 1998 but it you enter 15 it assumes 2015.
