May Photo Contest!

Postby BrianRangerTugs on Mon May 06, 2019 3:36 pm

Thank you to everyone who participated in last month's photo contest, there were so many amazing photos sent in!

If this is the first time you’ve come across our Tugnuts photo contest, welcome aboard! We’re having a monthly photo contest in which the winner will receive TWO jackets, custom embroidered with the Ranger Tugs or Cutwater Boats logo.

For this month’s theme, we want to see your favorite locations!

It can be any place that you enjoy. Whether it’s an iconic anchorage, a cherished harbor, scenic passage or more, this month’s contest is all about location. We’re excited to see your boat in some of places that you’ve found to be memorable and hear the story behind it. We’d love if you could include a bit of context, history or a story from your trip.

To enter the contest, all you need to do is send in a photo that fits this month’s theme: Your boat at one of your favorite locations.

Please send up to two photos, and a caption or comment to briandickhaut@rangertugs.com

I’ll upload the photos here to the thread as they come in.

We’ll be accepting entries until 5:00PM PST, May 29th 2019

Once the contest closes, we’ll hold a vote here at the factory and announce the winner in this thread.

"Our new (to us) C-26 with guard dog standing by on a mooring just inside the Eastport Bridge in Annapolis! Historic Charles Carroll house and St. Mary’s Convent in background – lovely location with all the excitement of Annapolis just a short dinghy or on-demand water taxi ride away!"

From Doug B

"The location is on Jackson Lake in the Grand Teton National Park and is located close to Colter Bay
Marina. Jackson Lake is gorgeous because of the proximity to the
mountains - it's the only place I know of that one can boat to the base
of a nearly 14,000 foot mountain. Although this picture was taken in
2014, we also were there for the major eclipse of 2017. That was a
beautiful sight as well."

From John & Carol D

"We’ve always been drawn to Poulsbo as it is easy to get to and has many fun shops and restaurants. We went there this weekend for our first overnighter on our new C28.

The sunset photo shows a 2012 Cutwater 28 that is owned by a very nice couple that we enjoyed meeting. Love the colors and reflection in the photo of our boat, Pau Hana.

We’ve been coming to Poulsbo for years but have been without a boat for three years until now. When we went to our favorite Italian restaurant in town on Saturday, the owner still remembered us by name. Poulsbo is close, friendly and never disappoints."

From Lois and Dan C.

"Here is a favorite South Sound destination of ours, McMicken Island State Park. At low tide, a tombolo becomes exposed, forming a sand bridge connecting McMicken and Harstine Islands and providing access to lots of beach for exploring. Boats anchor or latch onto buoys on one side of the tombolo, on the other side is a working geoduck farm. As a bonus, Mt. Rainier can often be seen from the tombolo and beach areas of both McMicken and Harstine Island. It is a gem of a destination year round."

From George C.

"One of the more remote "lakes" (reservoirs) in Arizona. Located second in line on the dammed Salt River; upstream Roosevelt Lake, downstream both Canyon Lake and Saguaro Lake. Dirt road to access but worth it. Excellent beaches and multiple coves for anchoring. We use our Hobie Eclipse almost every day at anchor for exercise and to explore."

From Gini

"Our R-31 is new enough to us that we haven’t had opportunities to go to our past favorite places, or to get pictures of her in those areas.

But we have a new favorite place as of the first Saturday in May that we hope qualifies — the Opening Day Parade on the Columbia River, with the boat decorated and the crew decked out. To add to to specialness of it all, the day turned out to be the best Opening Day in memory for many whose memories run much farther back that our own — it was a perfect sunny spring day.

As our club’s 45 or so boats went by the judges’ boat, were were lined up in three columns. This photo shows us in the middle column, flanked by two vintage wooden boats on either side. Our Ranger Tug 31 — everyone agreed — fit well with the look of the vintage woodies. It was, as it turned out, a perfect place to be!"

From Gavin Gee

"Escaping the city. We love to take the boat over from Elliot bay to blakely harbor on Bainbridge Island and anchor out for a few hours. It’s a short 30 minute ride on the cutwater and it’s wonderfully peaceful on the hook. Pretty amazing weather this May had us sunbathing, reading and flying a drone!
It also is improving my anchoring skills! Setting that anchor takes some practice with a single screw that loves to prop walk."

From Craig and Jill S.

"For Jill and I one of our favorite things to do is attend the Windermere Cup and support the UW Husky Crew row and watch the opening day boat parade with friends and family. For me it is like Christmas Eve, Christmas morning and New Years Eve all rolled into one! We were on the hook tied to the logboom Thursday morning until Sunday evening."

It's been a lot of fun to see and read about everyone's experiences and their favorite places to go boating. There's still time to enter the contest if you haven't already!

These shots are from John and Tracey G.

"Hello! The River Marsh Marina at the Cambridge Hyatt, MD is one of our favorite places to cruise to. The sunsets on the Choptank River are breathtaking! We can relax, enjoy the pools, kayak...perfect weekend getaway. So much to enjoy!!!"
