Just found this. Ranger Tugs folks will be building a new different but very similar line starting with a 26 and a 28. The boats will have the brand name Cutwater and will be built at a new facility in Munroe, WA. The line will debut at the Seattle Boat Show next month.

Goodness - that is a pretty boat! I like the double helm seat, ensuite head, and the cockpit layout in that 28! Looks to me like they are, indeed, filling another niche. Two big thumbs up for their guts to make this move in a stagnant economy... and I would absolutely bet on their success.

I allways wanted a anchor pulpit which it appears to have. I also like the 8'6" width for trailoring on the 28 footer

A bold move, but there is certainly a need for this type of boat. The 28 looks like far the better boat, with a much better HP to weight ratio, and I suspect will do better at achieving its rated speeds, with the 6 cyl engine 260 hp, vs the 4 cyl 180 hp in the 26.

It also appears from the drawings that there may be a 'coffin" berth under the dinette. I didn't see that mentioned, but may have missed it.

I wish them luck--and hope for good sales.

I looked a little closer at those specs and renderings. Some of you may recall my comments reflecting my fondness of the Albin 30 and Albin 27 Family Cruisers. These vessels remind me of the Albins. Yet, they have a lot of Ranger design elements. Albin sold several hundred 27s and 28s along the East Coast. These new vessels will probably penetrate that area better than the tugs have.
