FCC Licensing cost has got out of hand

Subject: FCC Licensing cost has got out of hand

I first applied for the FCC license way back in 2009 for my R-25 Classic which has since been sold and its FCC license cancelled. Back then I had to go through FCC as I would be cruising Canadian waters. Because of this international voyage requirement one cannot use BoatUS to obtain the MMSI for your boat which costs $25 or $0 if you're a BoatUS member.... so have to goto FCC for this. I recall the cost of the FCC license in 2009 was $160. Today after going through the FCC online application the fee is now $220. :( :o

The fee details shows
Payment Type: PASM Qty 1 Purpose NE for a cost of $70
Payment Type: PASR Qty 1 Purpose NE for a cost of $170
Total Due: $220

My license in 2009 was good for 10 years. I see no mention in the application today concerning how long the license is good for. Is it still 10 years or what ?

I do see this in the "Common Questions section...
Q: What is a license term?

A: A license term is the effective period of your license from the grant date to the date the license becomes inactive, for whatever reason, inclusive of those days.

My interpretation of this is that the FCC license term is good from the grant date to when I cancel it (i.e., becomes inactive). Is this correct ?

I applied for a new license and it was approved the next day. Download and print and I have my license and a PDF file of the 'Official Copy'.
