R23 Wiper sweep

Postby tedli357 on Tue May 14, 2019 7:35 pm

I am new to Ranger Tugs and have been learning how to use every equipment/component in the boat. I am currently stuck with the short area swept by the single arm wiper blade. The wiper/blade arm rests horizontally when off. Is there an adjustment to increase the sweep or travel? Or, can I replace it with pantograph wiper arms even if the motor mount is not located in the middle of the curved windshield?

All I can tell you is that I had to remove & fix my Starboard side as it was stuck and while apart I saw no means to adjust the sweep (can’t say I was looking for a way either). I sure would like to know where to get replacement wood plugs for the cabin though- Anyone?

Hi Familyguy, thanks for that bit of info regarding the fixed travel. From the wipers horizontal rest position, I am getting only about 90 degrees of rotation from the wiper motor. Therefore, the wiper blade only comes down to about vertical in the middle of my field of view before it sweeps back up. Are you getting the same amount of rotation and is this normal?

It’s normal. The wipers on the R23 are a weak point use Rainx or something similar. I bought some pink snake oil at the boat show, but it works great!

I do have some Rain X and will use that for now. I am also looking at the Vetus cataloque just to see what options are available.
