Wet exhaust flapper replacement

I’m looking for a replacement flapper for the wet exhaust on my 2009 R25. It is 4 1/2” in diameter. Engine is a Cummins 2.0 QSD. Ranger parts department only goes back to 2014 on the thru hull exhaust tip and I cannot find any aftermarket flappers that are of the right diameter from reputable sources. Can anyone help me here?

I ordered a replacement flapper for my 2014 R4 with a Volvo D3 (which had fallen off while cruising back to Whittier….fortunately I discovered it missing at the takeout ramp). So it probably won’t work for you. If it’s larger you may be able to trim it. Otherwise make one from some similar sheet rubber.

Try Marine Hardware. I got a replacement through them.

I had to replace the exhaust flap on my 2012 R27 but couldn't find a proper replacement for the size. It ended up being a DIY project. I got the rubber on Amazon:

U-Turn Fasteners - Neoprene Rubber Sheet 3/16 Thick - 6 x 6 inch Black Rubber Flap (2 Sheets) Material for Gaskets, Leveling, Weather Sealing ($12)

I simply traced the old flap onto the new material and cut it out using a really sharp knife. If you dip the knife in soapy water, it makes cutting through the neoprene a LOT easier.

The small fastener plate was corroded beyond reuse but I was lucky enough to have a friend fabricate the part in his machine shop at work.

I had to get a replacement for the flapper om my 2011 R27. As Mike said, Marine Hardware carries them. P/N is GETH-3.5 Flapkit. I corresponded with Ron Thomas at Marine Hardware, in Jul 2020 the cost was $45.50.

I took your advice and used the u fastener neoprene to make a new gasket. It worked great but guess what? I lost the small metal piece that holds down the gasket with the 2 screws, ugh. Any ideas? Can I get a new one? Small washers? Thanks

I actually made one from a stiff piece of plastic and then new screws and washers.
