How to access A/C filter?

Postby The Masons on Fri Aug 21, 2015 9:39 am

How does one go about accessing the Air Conditioner air filter on an R27? I assume through the "cave", but is it easily accessible once down there? Thanks.

On our R27 (2012 model) I access the filter under the stateroom bed. There are two panels that you pop out, take the filter material off to vacuum and or rinse off and you're good to go. If there's been a change since the 2012 model or another filter I'm not aware of someone will kindly let us know.

Can I ask this question again for a 2016 R27? There is no access beneath the vberths.

Ranger changed system types along the line. Yours may be a single unit with return an supply incorporated in one unit. Filters are usually on the return air side. Find your return air and remove the grill. There may be a filter screen on the grill and there may be one behind it.

I have a 2015 R-27 and I am also trying to clean the air filter on my air conditioner. I can access the unit by removing the wall at the back of the cave, but there is no way I can remove the filter. The unit sits under the passenger (port side) seat and the instructions for the unit show that the filter must be removed vertically from the unit. This is not possible from what I can see. I will be monitoring this posting to see if anyone explains how it should be done. If I find out, I will post my findings.

Correction, the unit is under the floor in front of the port side seat. YIKES!

Hello,

This becomes a little different for everyone so you need to make sure we answer the questions per the specific air conditioner installed in your boat. Please email me directly with your specific questions and I will be happy to answer them or get you to the right person to answer them.

Thank you,

With Andrews assistance I found mine by removing the panel where the AC exits into the vberth area. From there duct work, cables and a small vertical clearance make the access sufficiently difficult that one will require exceptional motivation to continue. I chose not to. There is a picture in my gallery.

This applies to a 2016 R27
