R21MastPlatform_TraileringSolution
Homemade platform example for securing an 18" radar (approx 24" diameter) and mast to the top of the R21EC cab. A first iteration solution for trailering the side-folding radar+mast without removing the lines, and best attempt to reduce vibration on the radar dome. Overall a successful project! Trailered without fault, total height at approximately 10'8", no added width, no movement in straps or apparatus after a 10 mile tow @ 60mph (with plenty of potholes)...additional modifications will be posted (cushioning and vibration improvements ahead). Simple design: a raised plywood platform, 2x4 legging to box the cabin windows, long-cut board (~7") for raising the mast to relieve pressure on the radar, marine carpet, flat shackles, straps, paint, and a float-pillow....glue, screws, nails to preference. Created two complementary platforms, one for the radar (starboard), and one flat for storage (port) that can be mounted simultaneously. Glad to post dimensions if interested, just let me know.
