Hi,

I'm a new Ranger tug owner, and have signed up to attend the rendezvous September 4th to 7th, and I'm looking to join a few other boaters on the journey to Roche Harbor. Although I'm not entirely new to boating, I feel that I have a lot to learn on my new boat, and am not comfortable making the 90 mile trip on my own just yet.

I keep my boat at the Des Moines Marina and am hoping others attending the event would not mind having me tag along in my boat. I'm fun, responsible, and anxious to learn.

Thanks,

Letty

Where are the sign ups?

Carrie, sign ups for the rendezvous is at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2025-fluid-motion-factory-rendezvous-registration-1248777299519

Letty, I’m sure you can find more people who you can cruise with. What kind of boat do you have? We have ours in Everett but if the times work out you can definitely ride up alongside us.
Hi, I have a R25, and just got it in February. Let's keep in touch. If I don't cruise up with you, I can meet you at the event. Thanks for your reply, I did get an offer from a member at the Des Moines Marina with a R31, so we'll see if the times work out.

We loved attending Rendezvous last year after purchasing our R27 in the spring, and as first time boat owners.
Perhaps a recommendation? Take an extra day before and after to travel to Roche - spend a night on a mooring ball or at a marina along your travels - or at anchor if you’re up for it - it’s the perfect way to settle into a great weekend and to enjoy your new boat. We took the time on the way back and regretted not doing the same on the way there.

We are new and will be going to the rendezvous and would like to tag along as well. thanks

Letty,
We are new owners of an RT27 and took several short trips around the south sound to gain a little comfort and confidence on our new boat. We have previously owned smaller boats and this was a big jump for us. After the break in we cruised to Port Townsend, then on to Anacortes and Bellingham gaining more confidence and comfort along the way. Docking in the wind was the hardest thing to get better at. We then had a captain friend from AK join us and we motored to our home in Juneau, AK. Having a friend with lots of experience was a great experience to learn and now in AK we feel much more at home on our boat and confident in our skills and ability to stay out of trouble. I suspect if you spend a lot of time on your boat this summer this will not be intimidating. Your boat can handle more than you can! We plan to motor back in late August taking our time and attending the Rendezvous. See you there.

Steve

We are thinking about launching our new to us R-27 OB in Everett and would appreciate any advice. Thanks
Everett is a great place to launch. A number of us are going out of there. Are you new to boating or just new to the R-27 and Everett?

To get up to the islands from Everett your best bet is Saratoga Passage, on the east side of Whidbey and then through Deception Pass. Deception can be intimidating because of the currents but your boat can handle it. Your chart plotter will show currents through there. Current below 4 knots is really no problem but the first few times you do it try to get as close to slack as you can. Once you’re through the Islands are just a skip north and west.

Let us know if you have any specific questions. When it gets closer perhaps we can get a group together to go at the same time.

Thanks, just new to the R27 OB. Many years of very serious sailing and boating, cruising etc. no issue there . I go back to the dead reckoning days and still carry paper charts. Would like to join you all in Everett.
Thanks

Wow! You can probably teach the rest of us then.

Let’s connect back up closer to the event. In the meantime let us know if you have questions about your R27! It’s a fantastic boat.

Wanting to sign up for the Desolation Sound Cruise and not finding any info on it. Is it already full?

Thanks so much, still in the learning phase for this boat .

Hi Letty here with my R25. I'm at the Des Moines Marina, and would love to join the group. I'm not new to boating, but a first time boat owner with a lot to learn. What day are all of you planning to go up?

Hi Steve, Thanks for the encouragement! I have been doing overnights at Gig Harbor and have plans to go to Long Branch Marina in two weeks. Those are both short trips, and each time I go out, I gain confidence. Hopefully I will find a buddy boat to tag along with to Roche Harbor
