I have a R-25 with a Yamaha F 250 outboard. It is equipped with a a "trim assist" feature which per the manual will match the trim with the engine speed. Does anyone use this feature?

Thank you

The 3 blade prop, generally the faster I traveled (the closer to WOT that I got) the higher up I'd have to trim the engine. Usually 2-3 bars is good. But I've ran it up to 5 or 6 bars before as I run closer to WOT.

Once I switched to the 4 blade, and now I'm running a 5 blade prop, engine trim just needs to be 2-3 bars. After that, it really doesn't appear to matter. I can adjust from 2-6 bars and speed and gph appear unaffected by engine trim. So I just run 2-3 bars and don't worry about it.

I use the Trim Assist feature on our R-27 F350 and it works great. Took a bit to set up as the instructions are a bit confusing and don't mention that all 5 setpoints need to be filled - even if they are the same numbers for RPM and % trim. I just have 2 settings, one for 0% trim at idle, and 32% trim at 4400rpm. I leave it on all the time - another thing I don't need to worry about fiddling with while underway

I have a 2021 R25. The ranger tug salesman told me not to raise it more than 3 bars as the outboard may not get required water for cooling. So I never tried it but I think it can go higher without a problem.
