I had to replace the 6YC Yamaha display / control unit on our 2018 Ranger Tug R23. Because it is a new unit, I need to do an initial set-up, however, in order to calibrate the gas tank levels, it wants me to start with an empty tank and as gas is added at 15 gal intervals, it is set each time. I cannot empty my tank to do this. Is there another way of accomplishing the same?
Combo #5 on the display does show the tank level in multiple bars and shows when fuel is consumed, but the Garmin shows zero gallons remaining no matter the actual tank level. The other combo screens on the 6YC do not show the fuel levels,

If your tank is a standard rectangular shape (not a "belly" style trapezoid or other complex shape) then you can just remove the sender from the tank with the 5 screws. (Assuming a WEEMA reed style sender) Measure the length of the sender and divide it into the same number of increments as the Yamaha system will allow. Then move the float to each position and save it on the display, and once complete just screw the sender back in and call it a day
