My 2017 R23 manual says the 7.4A Garmin chart plotter fuse is located in Dash Fuse Box #2 but it isn't. Nor can I find it in either of the other two fuse blocks. Where else could it be?

The current R23 manual shows it in Fuse Block 1 in the same third position the old version had it in dash Fuse Block 2 (see below). But assuming your boat is a 2017 and you aren't looking at the wrong manual, my first guess would be that the 7.5A fuse was simply replaced with a different size. Did you try tracing the wire from the screw terminal where the 7.5A fuse should be and determine that is not the Garmin? Next would be tracing the power back from the chartplotter itself.

We too have a 2017 R23. It seems FM hadn't settled on precisely how they would wire early model R23's for production. In our experience, be bold, remove items, create access and trace wires! Embrace the chaos...

The good news is that the back of the chart plotter is fully exposed by swinging down the access panel in the head. Follow the power lead.

If you want some real fun, like solving puzzles, and are into yoga, here is your challenge: find the NMEA 2000 bus...and don't be surprised if you find it powered by the RADIO!!!

That is a good suggestion. Many thanks!

Goodness! I admire your courage and wish I had some. Electricity is magic to me and I wouldn't dare!
