Flag staff size

12" X 18" flag on on a SS staff.

The rule of thumb is that the height of the staff is twice the height of the flag. The length of the flag should be one inch for every one foot of the length our the boat. You’re never going to hit those numbers on the nose, but it’s a guideline. If you want a 24x36 flag, the staff should be 48” long, give or take.
 
Just did this. Agree with staff.twice the hight of the flag. Measure the mount ID. I believe 1" and.1.25" are common.
