After a beautiful day of cruising, I did my first oil change on this boat (2025 R29 CB). I was able to extract just over 2 full gallons. I was using the dipstick tube and a pump. Is there an oil extraction tube dedicated for the purpose or is the dipstick tube the only way? Also, how much oil can someone get out this way? Thanks.

My '21 R31 with a 320 D4 has a dedicated oil extraction tube on the starboard side. I get almost every drop out with a pump. I use a big plastic jug with gallon and quart markings to help make sure I know how much I got out.
This video from Robin shows the extraction tube at about 5:55 min time mark

Oil extraction tube is the way to go, it's very accessable and allows for a much cleaner and quicker process vs the dipstick tube.

Works on an outboard too, when in the water.

Yes! Thanks, I thought that might be it. I'm sure it works much better than the dipstick tube.

Do you put the pump extraction line down into the extraction tube or just fit it over the top of extraction tube?It looks like Robin in the YouTube video just fit it to the top which would mean the oil would have to be sucked up the extraction tube. I have the 320. Looks like he was doing a 300. Not sure if it is the same procedure.

With my D4-300 and a warm engine I get 3.5 gallons out using the extraction tube. I think this is almost all of it.

With our D4-320 (2021) using the extraction tube we get almost the full capacity of used oil from the oil pan. Some oil is in the two filters that are also replaced.

I was having trouble getting the suction tube all the way down into the extraction tube, it was hitting some kind of "ridge". (Like maybe where the extraction tube sits into the block) I would pull the tube out and it would be dry...it never even reached the surface of the oil. At first I just tapered the end of the suction tube and it didn't help. Then, I took a thin slice off the end diagonally (like a syringe) and that seemed to do the trick. I was able to get the suction tube all the way down after that.

I use painters tape at the top of the extraction tube to seal the air leak at the top of the tube and just suck the oil out from the tube without worrying about getting the line from the oil extraction device down into the oil pan.

Pretty Clever!
