The power trim assembly started making an intermittent knocking noise at the lower end of lowering the ngine. It doesn't always happen but possibly happening more frequently. Kind of a knocking like the shafts may be sticking in the seals??? I watched a video on how to replace and re-lube those seals but not sure that is needed at this time. I'll examine the shafts, make sure they are smooth and add a tad of grease on top of the seals and see what happens. I typicall boat solo so I've only heard the noise from the helm. I'll try using the switch on the motor next time I'm at the boat to get a closer look/listen also.

Anybody experience anything like this?

Have you tried putting grease on the ends of the pistons, where they meet the motor? It's common for the trim pistons to "stick" to the motor when raising or lowering.

I'm always inclined to say "thanks Martin" but for all I know, LaZina may be a retired master mechanic and the person writing these replies🙂 Regardless, I'll do that.

I'd like to point the finger at LaZina this time... but I can't... 🙂

Thanks again Martin, I just watched your video and I believe that is/was the culprit for the noise I was hearing. The tops of those rods were sticking against those pads. Now I also carry a tube of gease and will regularly apply to the tops of the rods.

FYI - I watched most of your videos, in addition to all the Fluid Motion "how to" videos, before purchasing my boat and found them to be very helpful. Do you guys have any trips to the San Juans planned in the near future? Would be great to see you. Cheers.

No specific plans. We're making preparations for SE Alaska next year. We'll be in the San Juan Islands a lot this season.
