2007 R25 diesel tank hatch location

Our 2007 R25 has a faulty fuel sensor or stuck fuel float. This model does not have a hatch in the floor for tank access (as apparently do later models). We would like to have an access panel installed so the sensor/flat can be repaired, but need information on where/how big the access should be. In a previous request you directed us to the the fuel tanks specs, but it lacks (at least an understandable format) how far the tank/sensor is from aft doorway, or other landmark. Can you tell where and how big the access hatch should be?

I can give you a measurement of the fuel gauge hatch on a 2009.. That does not guarantee the 07 is even close.
Open your inside step and put a mirror and light down in front of the engine. You should see the stern end of the tank forward under the floor. Might be able to stick a ruler in there for a measurement to the end and do some extrapolating from there.

Adding to Denny's reply. The fuel tank drawing found under Factory Technical Bulletins was published in May 2006; therefore, assume (but maybe should not do that) it did not change from 2006 to 2007. The sending unit is located 26" back from the stern end of tank and 11-3/4" inboard from starboard side of tank. Without being on our R25 to measure I think this would place the sending unit somewhere in the aisle about even with the stove location. As Denny noted open the cabin step and you should be able to get a fix on the stern end of tank and I would also take the front of step off (four screws) for better access. Free space between top of tank and floor is very narrow.
We have same issue on our MY 09' R25 but it sure makes me feel good as after a several hour cruise my Cummins has actually manufactured fuel. 😀 We use paper and pencil with fuel burn rate from Garmin, and found the Garmin to be fairly accurate in fuel usage.
