I searched for this info before posting, the only information I found was from the gentleman using 18 watt Sunsei panels to run systems while at anchor (on his R25, I believe). The anecdotal evidence was interesting but didn't include any hard data about the actual generation/consumption of power.

You see, we're getting a new house battery for this season and I want to make some spot calculations about power usage for longer trips and more time on the anchor than our usual afternoon out.

Here are some values I have gotten from the fridge and GPS manufacturers, after which I'll ask for some data on the remaining systems:

-The Garmin 540s chartplotter consumes a max of 15 watts @ 13.8 VDC. (~1.25 amps) Fairly efficient little bugger.

-I can't find numbers specific to the NovaKool R1600 refrigerator, but the NovaKool site lumps all fridges from 1.3CF to 2.5CF into a single category with a maximum reported draw of 30 watts. (~2.5 amps) (better than I thought!)

Is there any available data on the current draw from these on board systems?

-Navigation/Anchor lights (very interested in at least the anchor light since it is required overnight at anchor)

-Cabin overhead lighting (normal and red-night)

-The overhead Berth light (if available)

-I assume the fresh water (sink) pump is a negligible to non-existent current draw to maintain the system once it is pressurized. Is this true?

Thanks for any help,

-Steve

I will be following this thread with interest. I purchased the 18 watt solar panel but haven't used it as yet. I'm guessing you'll get some interesting data...

Update- someone from the factory would have to corroborate this, but this looks to me like the lamp installed above the berth in my 2009 R21-EC:

According to this specification sheet, the lamp draws 15 watts.
