coming soon to a stern
My forward bilge pump (bilge pump 2) seems to not be working. It runs, plays a nice whine, but no water is moved, though I have no idea if water is there.
Where is this pump?
How does one view and access it?

Thanks.

Unless it is different from the 2017 model you will find the pump on the starboard side of the bilge, just aft of the bulkhead. Look in the area below the oil filter.

Of course, even though you may be able to see it you probably can’t touch it but you will be able to confirm there is no water around it. If you need practical access then follow the access procedure as though you were going to change the impeller or belts. That means under the step and removing the panels behind it. It does help if you had a career as a contortionist.

What makes you think it’s not working?

On our 2011 25SC:
It is in front (bow side-not stern side) of the engine, in the bilge. Can be viewed if looking from port side when standing in engine area and leaning over. Need bright flash light. Hard to reach but doable.
Can also be seen if one knows how to change the impeller after removing the proper panels and sticking your head in the engine area by the belts on port side. I think it is higher than the pump at stern side of engine.

My mistake. It is of course Port side, not Starboard.

My only reasons for interest is that the rear (main) bilge pump's discharge pipe had been plugged making it unable to perform, and that I've never experienced the front one running. While it's probably good that it has never run, if like to be certain it's ok.

On my SC25 the forward pump sits on the port side up on the riser about 2 inches above the bottom of the bilge. You would need to have a lot of water in there for it to pick up and discharge.
