2011 New England Ranger Tug Rendezvous

Bill, As we get closer to June, here are some event/activity suggestions: Both Yanmar and Cummins (our need) workshops; Tug tours to see primarily what add-ons owners have deployed; pot luck/byob Friday; perhaps a reasonable dinner fee for Sat evening w/ byob. Also, a workshop on the full performance of the Garmin 5212 or whatever owners have. Kit and Ginny

Attended the New England Boat Show in Boston yesterday and visited with Bill and Paul from Wilde yachts and Peter from Winter Island Yacht Yard. We discussed the 2011 N. E. RT Rendezvous in Essex this June. This question is directed at Jeff Mesner and the PNW Rendezvous commitee: How do we acquire the burgees I saw in a photo album w/ the RT logo and boat name? It would be a great attendence rememberance for the RT owners. Also, having a Garmin rep attend who could update our owners Garmin electonics. Kit (TUGETHER)

My wife and I are planning to attend on Peregrine, our R-29. Essex is a beautiful little town.
Teenage son and daughter will also attend barring any mutinies.

Hi. To all those RT's planning to attend the New England Ranger Tug Rendezvous, who would like Burgees, please refer to the topic Burgees and request an order form. Rather than one Tugnut ordereing for all attendees, it would be practical to order directly and avoid a middle man. Kit (TUGETHER)

Hi,

My wife Debbie and I will be attending. We expect our new R27 to be delivered to Wilde Yacht sales in time for the rendezvous. We are new to boat ownership, but are familiar with trip planning and navigation having owned an IFR equipped Cessna 172 for the past 22 years. We are looking forward to meeting others from the area and leaning as much as possible about Ranger Tugs and cruising.

There will be activities planned for Saturday such as medical emergencies at sea, Yanmar engine maintenance tips, person overboard and a fire extinguishing drill. We will have the fire extinguishers. Please bring your life jackets as there will be an opportunity to wear, inflate and adjust to your life jackets in the event it is ever needed as part of the person overboard drill in the pool.

We will be holding a business meeting to elect a board of Ranger Tug owners who will be responsible for the 2012 and beyond Rendezvous(s). The Rendezvous is an owners and potential owners event and the owners should vote for a few owners to be the Commodore, vice commodore, secretary and treasurer for the group. The first business meeting could be held at the 2011 Rendezvous to decide where and when the 2012 Rendezvous will be held.

There will be a raffle to help support the New England Ranger Tugs owners Association on Saturday night. Please bring a gift for the raffle to help support your Association.

Wilde Yacht Sales and Winter Island Yacht Yard are here to facilitate the Rendezvous and help out the first year. We are here to help you get this annual event started and continue in the future. Please direct all of your inquiries to: semcare1@aol.com and we will be sure to get the information to you about the 2011 Ranger Tug Rendezvous in Essex, CT June 10, 11 and 12. This should be a fun time and a chance for owners to get to know one another as share stories.

Thank you,
Bill Boyer

All:

Unfortunately, YOLO (and crew) is not quite ready for that long a trip. We are, however, interested in being involved in some sort of New England Ranger Tugs Owners Association. At least a member of an event planning committee. Please keep us informed as to what takes place in Essex and have a safe and fruitful rendezvous.

Barry, did you consider trailering your tug down? There are a couple of ramps close by.

We did not purchase a trailer, as we live in a condo on a marina and utilize a slip.

Of all the bad luck. I have to go to Seattle for two weeks starting Monday. We still want to drive up for the day on Saturday but I sure will miss going up with our R25!
