Lisa and I want to thank everyone for making us newbies feel so welcome at the Bremerton Rendezvous, we now feel like part of the club. We've been to a number of boating events and this one was one of the best run and most fun. We look forward to returning in the future. Lisa has posted some photo's from the event today, with more to follow, on our blog. If you'd like to take a look simply go to:

Great pictures. It was wonderful to meet you both. Enjoy the rest of your cruising out here.

cheers,

Bruce

Jim & Lisa:

It truly was a chance meeting you both at Roche over the busy Sep 4th weekend -- Roche's busiest weekend of the year so I'm told.

It was but a few weeks (July 29th) since we had been at Roche earlier for the start of the Ranger Tug's Desolation Sound 2011 cruise up to Gorge Harbour. So when we returned to Roche on Sep 2nd to meet up with our immediate family members, who rented cabins overlooking the Guest slips, we thought surely we would be the only Ranger Tug in the harbor. However, first was Bela (a Ranger Tug R25, and same model year as ours) from Friday Harbor who arrived and docked one slip away from us and were carrying a Gray Portland Pudgy dingy -- surprise, surprise. 😱 They had a 1 year old baby girl with them and were in desperate need of having their rear most engine bay bilge pump repaired. Then a day, or maybe or maybe it was hours later, you both arrived in your R27 Kismet... what a chance meeting both Tugs and owners. 🙂

Your photos and blog are very interesting and yes, that Sunset yellow dingy of ours is nice and bright as you say, and it's a good color for safety reasons as you you point out. Those large red Tuff End fenders look glorious in the photos.

When the mechanic arrived to fix Bela's bilge pump the mechanic had trouble locating fuses and wiring and how exactly the bilge pump operated etc. As our Laxey R25 was same model year as Bela it was simple for me to show the mechanic where everything was -- and he was most appreciative to have a 'model' boat to work from. Unlike you both, unfortunately Bela would not be at the Bremerton get-together as they needed to return to Portland OR.

I was sorry to see you had left Roche after returning from taking a shower... however, your photos and blog bring much of that Sep 4th weekend's activities back to mind... Thank you for posting them.

Oh, and by the way, I now keep a full set of Allen keys with my boat's toolkit (an inside joke for the rest of you reading this). However, I forgot to Tell Andrew Custis that when he delivered our Laxey to us two years ago he did not make sure that small set screw for holding the stern flag pole in place wasn't properly secured. Andrew please take note -- you MUST add that to your QA list...

Woweeee... that was a pile of photos you took, and they are soooooo good, capture the spirit of the activities and I bet you managed to capture a photo of everyone doing some thing. How on earth did you manage this... a really great effort. Thank you.

Here's a quick note from Cascade Engine, and a link to some more pictures:

RE: Cascade Engine photos.... No way is photo #2 a picture of an R-25's 150 HP Yanmar engine unless maybe it's an R-25SC as I've never seen that engine. Could it be an R-27 maybe ?

Photo #2 is indeed the Yanmar 150 engine which is installed in our 2010 R25SC, R-MATEY. The engine is totally outside because of the larger cockpit.

Randy & Ida (ADVENTURER) have the same engine in their 2010 R25 which has the smaller cockpit so you don't see as much of the engine like you do on the R25SC.

Thanks R-Matey... that clear that one up. Thanks...

How are you enjoying that R-MATEY car license plate these days ? 😎

The license plate is an eye-catcher, that's for sure. Especially with the little kids 🙂
Many thanks for seeing to it that we were able to acquire it.

And for all of us that "thoroughly" enjoyed that famous crab dip on Saturday night, Myra from Cast On shared the recipe with me. Enjoy and I expect to taste this one again!

2011 Ranger Rendezvous-- Hot Crab Dip
Submitted by Myra & Dave Willingham, Cast On

4 - 8 ounce packages cream cheese, cubed
1 lb crab meat, drained if needed
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 C mayonnaise
4 t prepared yellow mustard (or more)
1/2 C (or more if needed to thin) good cooking sherry or white wine
2 T minced onion
Seasoning Salt, to taste
a few dashes of Tabasco sauce
Ruffles Potato Chips

Melt cheese in double boiler. Add all ingredients except crab -- stir until hot.
Add the crab last, and serve hot in a chafing dish, with Ruffles chips on the side for dipping.

Thanks to everyone for making the rendezvous the best ever. A special thanks to Craig and Kathy, John and Laurie, David and Maureen, Patrick and Gail, Herb and Willie and Johnnie for all the effort that was extended to make this event very special. Thank you, also, to all who contributed to the silent auction including the vendors and those who purchased items. We had sixty items and collected about $3500. I am already looking forward to next year and maybe new committee members with new ideas to make it even better. You are all very special and next year we look forward to 100 boats.
All the best,
Bob

I forgot to thank Bruce for the great photos of the rendezvous participants. Thanks Bruce.
Bob

Bob,
You forgot to credit yourself and Nita for all of your hard work and efforts! It was certainly a join effort by a large group of people to make this a success!
David and Maureen

Thank you Willie for doing such a great job on all of the photos you took at the rendezvous. We know it took a lot of your time; your pictures will be enjoyed by many for a long, long time.

Thank you

Bob and Nita

Hi Jim and Lisa,
You guys were really a great part of the rendezvous, it was special meeting you both. I finally got around to looking at your pictures and they are great. Thank you soo much for your participation and very nice comments. I hope you come next year.
Bob

So what is the location and dates of the 2012 PNW Rendezvous? Has the committe been selected yet? Never to soon to start planning!

I know the planning committee & volunteer pool needs all the help they can get---would you like to volunteer?

I know there have been a lot of thank you's being posted, but I have a few more that need to be mentioned.

Thank you to Howard and Carol for embroidering all the swag bags, 67 of them, they looked great.

Thank you to the factory boys who cooked all those hamburgers, bratwurst, and hot dogs, it wasn't an easy job with all the smoke, you guys did an excellent job. Even the ones sitting around drinking beer and watching.

I don't know if you know this, but Herb Stark of Willie's Tug designed the logo for the Rendezvous and provide the banners I thought he captured the Pacific Nothwest theme perfectly. Thank you Herb and Willie for everything you did while on vacation. Thank you everyone who took pictures and posted them, I never got a chance to take any, so I will be asking for copies.

And a special thank you to Laurie and John of the Laurie Ann and Ranger Tugs for all their help and expertise, we couldn't have done it without you. We had a strong committee, with excellent leadership, making great decisions, and we made great friends. See you next year.
