Hi all,

We just acquired 2012 27 and noticing that our search light turns on, but only moves up and down and I cannot get it to move L to R. I don't know if its a remote issue or a motor within the actual search light.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. I've tried contact Jabsco directly but no success.

Thanks!

There are two small motors inside the search light. One may be bad. I got one of eBay a few months ago.

Last year we had a similar problem. Opened up light, cleaned contacts and she’s been working fine since. Hopefully yours will be this easy.

Same experience. Cleaned contacts Inside light and it worked perfectly.

If the light is mounted on the mast per factory location it is of limited value when pointed forward in direction of travel. Reflected glare off of deck From search light makes a good flash light more useful. If you are using it to look to the sides, not in direction of travel, it is ok. After trying mine once to look for crab traps in the dark went to a flash light almost immediately. Never used it again. Looks nice though.

Our 2016, R-27 Classic, was not equipped with a built-in searchlight.
Having used one on our CG Auxiliary patrol boat, I would rather have a portable light.
Your night vision is too easily ruined by a careless sweep across the bright shiny handrails and even the reflection from your deck can affect the night vision.
Yes, it can happen with a handheld light as well but you have better control.

Hello,
I have the exact same issue. Cleaning the contacts didn’t help. There is some rust on the horizontal control motor so I suspect it has corroded. I have found the whole assembly for sale on eBay but I just need to replace the motor. Is there a part number for the motor only noir did I have to replace the whole assembly?

As stated above. You will do a lot of work to get it going, but disappointing with the value of having it. It does make a nice ornament though.
