I need to replace the horn. The bracket screws seem to just turn in place so I’m not sure how they are secured (screwed directly into stack/cap or with nuts). Do I need to remove the stack?

The horn is secured with machine screws and nuts. Unfortunately, the nuts are on the underside of the stack tunnel. There is no other way to access them besides removing the tunnel. Before removing the tunnel, make sure that needs to be done. Why does the horn need to be replaced? Exhaust all horn troubleshooting options before removing the tunnel. It’s a fairly involved procedure. If you don’t use the horn often, it might be a better option to buy a portable air horn.

Thanks! I’ve replaced the fuse and switch. Also checked (metered) wiring as far as possible. Last step is replacing horn.

I was able to get a louder, nearly identical looking replacement that fit the bracket without removing it.

There are a lot of replacement horns out these besides the brand Ranger Tugs used.
Some, like this one, https://vixenhorns.com/product/vixen-ho ... rn-chrome/ seem to be very close copies of the ones on our boats. Could be an easy swap. Several prior threads from folks who have replaced the horn units can be found by search.
I just took my horns apart this spring and cleaned the contacts. Horns have worked fine all this season despite some heavy salt water spray. Technical doc on how to do this is posted by the factory on this forum. Next time the horns poop out I think I would buy the Vixen....

also note that the standard horn is serviceable. you take off the back and lubricate the components and it usually comes back to life. the screw to disassemble mine was under the sticker.

Thanks for all the help! Sorry this comes so late but it’s been busy! Ended up replacing one horn. With two replaced they don’t work so I know their is a wiring problem (that will have to wait until next summer).
