Hi, I have a Ranger Luxury edition, HID: FMLT2701D112. I'm looking to replace the thruster anodes but don't know what the models of each thruster are to get the right ones. I'd also like to find manuals for them if possible for maintenance purposes so the model numbers will help. Thanks! GF

I believe the thruster model on my 2012 R27 is Sidepower SE 30. If that’s not correct for the OP’s boat, please Tugnuts, correct this.

The anodes are aluminum.

From my maintenance notes:

Thruster anode part number- SM3 1180A
Bolt head 4mm hex
Use 4mm T-handle on bow; Use 3/8 ratchet with long extension and hex driver on stern. Put port trim tab down.

Anodes metals should match. Either aluminum or zinc, not a mix of the two. Aluminum is, arguably, the best for salt water.
We have Side Power Thrusters in our 2009 RT.
I use boatzincs.com and this aluminum “zinc” for the Side Power thrusters: SM31180A Side-Power Aluminum Anode

Thanks CaspersCruiser and scross. This helps a lot. GF

That is a fact, but according to boatzincs, it doesn’t matter with the thrusters since they are electrically isolated. The only anodes available are aluminum.

So do I. They are great to deal with and ship promptly.

CaspersCruiser is right on. Metals used for “zincs” should match and I try to use aluminum as the sacrificial “zinc” anode on my boat. But I have yet to find the engine zincs in aluminum so I use the zinc. It’s not a perfect world....

The boatzincs folks told me that zinc is the only metal in which engine anodes for our engines are available.
