I am hoping someone can give some advice on the odor issue I’m having with my holding tank. I experienced a bad smell a month ago even though my tank was empty except for a couple gallons of water and the chemical. After we used it for a couple days while rafting up, I went to the dump station and emptied the tank, filled the entire holding tank with fresh water and dumped it again. I then put 5 gallons of fresh water and more chemical. It still smells really bad when you walk to the back area of the boat. Any help solving this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Check for fittings leaks: going into the tank, leaving the tank, going to the Y valve, both y-valve exits, at the pump out fitting, going into the macerator, leaving the macerator, and the overboard fitting. I think that is all of them. If you do find a drip also flush and clean the bilge. HTH, Gary

There is an access cover on the top the tank. This cover is sealed by an oring. If the cover is loose or the oring is damaged the waste tank gases can escape the tank around the cover instead of the tank vent. The tank vent hose and fittings are notorious for getting plugged. If the vent is partially plugged it may be venting around the seal area of the cover. I would recommend checking both the vent hose and fittings and the cover.
