Our reservations for the rendezvous have been set and confirmed with Mystic Seaport. The event is from August 14th arrival to August 17th departure. Reservations for a slip are to be made directly with the marina. The marina advised that those attending should make slip reservations no later than a month in advance of the event to ensure that you will be docked with the group. The event will be similar to last year and include a breakfast, lunch and dinner on the 15th.
If you are planning on attending please contact Brian Norman at bnorman426@yahoo.com so that you get on the e-mail list and we can start getting a head count of attendees. Any ideas of presentation desires are welcomed. Anyone with connections to have presenters is more welcomed! You can also contact me at mrizzo8743@aol.com

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Just wanted to add that we will have a lot of activities for children as well as adults this year. So those with families, please feel very welcome to join in this coming year.

Hello all,

The snow has melted and many of us have removed the tarps, washed and waxed and are almost ready to launch. Plans are starting to come together for the Rendezvous. Besides the great camaraderie we will have a day of seminars, food, drink and raffles. Garmin has committed to present as well as the Auxilary Coast Guard doing inspections and we are still working on other presentations. Anyone with a contact or who is willing to share with others, please contact me
( mrizzo8743@aol.com ) so we can develop the schedule further. Those who have attended in the past know what a great time it is. Below is a link to open and print the attendance form. Completing the form and mailing it in is the first step! You must also call Mystic Seaport marina to reserve your slip. The contact information is on the form.

Before making a marina reservation at Mystic Seaport consider becoming a Mariner member. You will save $1.25 per foot per night. The membership costs $125. You also get reciprocity privileges at many other marine museums in the area and a discount at Mystic Seaport stores and restaurants.

I just received my Mystic Seaport Newsletter. On the Saturday and Sunday during our rendezvous Mystic Seaport will have their Antique Marine Engine Exposition. From http://www.mysticseaport.org/event/anti ... osition-2/:

The transition from sail to engine power was a momentous event for the maritime industry and the world. Experience it firsthand at the 23rd annual Antique Marine Engine Exposition at Mystic Seaport as collectors from around the country come together to show off full-size and miniature 19th- and early 20th-century marine engines. Inboards, outboards, steam, gasoline, diesel, electric and naphtha engines will all be on display in the Museum’s Shipyard. Additional engines dating from 1889 to 1963 and manufactured by Evinrude, Johnson, Herreshoff, Palmer and Kriebel will be exhibited in the North Boat Shed.

More than 300 engines will be on display and many will be operated for your viewing and listening pleasure. A large selection of marine models will also be on display to delight the young at heart.

Weekend activities include a set-and-weigh anchor demonstration featuring a 1914 Economy Sparta donkey engine aboard the L.A. Dunton and the firing of several engines in the Shipyard, including a six-cylinder D-90 Lathrop diesel engine from the 1940s and a two-cylinder Wichmann semi-diesel from Norway. There will also be a 1917 Hercules engine demonstration behind the Museum’s Hoop Shop.

Just a reminder to those interested in the Northeast Rendezvous at Mystic Connecticut. They are holding a block of space for us, but at a certain point they will start to give those spaces away, so please call there ASAP to make your slip reservation. Their phone number is 860-572-5391

Just a reminder for those who will be attending this year. There is only a few weeks left to reserve your spot at the seaport. As of July 14th, they will be taking reservations from anyone who would like to stay there, not just us tugnuts. Spots usually fill up very fast there in season. If you are planning on attending, Be sure to call and reserve your spot soon as well as send in the official signup sheet so we have an accurate head count for the caterers.
Thanks much
Brian

just a reminder that Mystic Seaport will be taking reservations from anyone who calls to stay there as of July 14th. They are holding off until then for us Tugnuts. If you plan on attending and have not reserved a spot yet, I urge you to do so very soon. They do tend to fill up rather quickly in the summer. After July 14th, you may not get a slip

Well, we have had another successful Rendezvous up here in the Northeast. here in Mystic Seaport. A great spot to stop for those cruising the Long Island Sound. We had 13 boats represented and tons of fun and camaraderie. I want to thank Bofil Marine, Winter Island Yachts and Ranger tugs for their participation in the event. Peter Haywood did a bang up job running around and taking care of everyone's boat issues and answering questions. Gamin, as usual, did a great presentation and also did software updates and maintenance on units. Howard Rowland did a very informative presentation on our electrical systems and we all came away understanding things a lot better about the ins and outs and how things work. I want to thank Brian Norman & David Langham for arranging the caterer, procuring supplies and keeping the accounting records and of course launching those Chinese hot air balloon lanterns every evening so we could make a wish as they floated away. Jess Rizzo did a great job assembling the goodie bags with all great supplies for our boats. I want to also thank all the suppliers who donated their products, especially Prism polish.
As soon as I have some pictures put together I will post them.
Next year it seem that we are heading to Newport, Rhode Island, so once we have dates and arrangements together we will be starting a new post.

Take care everyone and until next year, Fair winds and calm seas!!

Mike Rizzo
