I am getting ready to bite the bullet and buy a Garmin GMR18 radar dome to add to the Garmin 740S chartplotter that came with the boat, but first I have a few questions:
1. Any recommendations as to the xHD model vs. the HD+? Is the xHD worth the extra money? It seems the 740 will not utilize all of the xHD benefits, and if that is correct, should I spend the money anyway in case I later upgrade the GPS?
2. What is the easiest recommended cable routing for the radar and power cables on the R21-EC? Will a remote GPS antenna cable also fit through the fittings, if any?
3. Any idea why the factory did not link the 740 GPS and the VHF for the MMSI feature when the boat was built? Any suggestions on how to easily do this?
