I've owned my R27 for 5+ years. No previous issues with shore power. Over a year ago I changed my shore power cord to SmartPlug due to two burned out Marinco outlets. No problems at private home dock. We recently stayed overnight at Marina. No issues for two days/nights. On the third night the A/C went out. I use a Marinco 50 amp to 30 amp adapter to plug my SmartPlug cord into. The adapter showed power via LED lights. The SmartPlug LED was off. The main A/C breaker on the boat was tripped.
On return to home dock the shore power cord was replaced and power restored. However after several days of continuous air conditioning the A/C power failed again. The breaker was not tripped. However when I pressed the breaker check button ( supposed to check monthly - news to me) the power was restored.
Today power out again. Breaker not tripped and pressing breaker check button did not help. LED on power cord is on.
My theory is power surge at Marina started all this?
Second theory is that my breaker is now faulty?
Is it worth getting a plug in portable power surge protector for shore power?
I welcome all thoughts about this.. thank you J
