Today I was at anchor in my 2015 C28 (bought new from Hamlin's Marine in March 2016), running the NextGen generator (it only has 9 hours on it) and running the A/C unit in the cabin. It ran for about an hour in 90 degree weather, then the A/C shut off and there was no longer 120VAC available at the panel, but the generator was still running fine. I shut off the generator, checked the A/C breaker (it was not tripped) and opened it, then removed the cover of the generator and pressed the "reset" button, and restarted the generator. Still no 120VAC at the panel. Turned generator back off. Checked every breaker on the panel and none tripped. Opened and shut the main 120VAC breaker. Pressed reset on the generator again and restarted it. Generator starts right up and runs great, but still no voltage at the panel. When I go back to the marina, plugged in to shore power and A/C started right back up and 120VAC at the panel like normal. It seems like this would be a simple generator reset but that is not working.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On my 29 tug there is a breaker that is right on the generator. This may be what you are referring to as a reset. If not there will be a breaker. If it does not snap on and off but is really easy to move back and forth it may be gone. Also there is a switch that changes from shore power to Generator power, may be a wire off there ? If you have a tester , just start checking the power trail and it will lead you to it. If will probably be something easy , just finding it.
Good luck

I have a '14 C28. There's a breaker in the cabinet under the range. It's mounted in the back of the cabinet. Per the schematics (and the way the manual lays it out) it should only be for shore power. But, it's worth a check. I had similar symptoms while on shore power.

With the next gen, there is a breaker right on the generator itself. Please call us directly if you need assistance on troubleshooting this. Office (253)839-5213.

Thank you,
