Poets Cove Cruise – June 2nd-5th, 2016, Poets Cove, South Pender Island, BC

We are excited to announce the third annual factory cruise to Poets Cove Resort and Spa for the weekend of June 2nd-5th, 2016. Poets Cove is located in Bedwell Harbour on South Pender Island in the Canadian Gulf Islands. Poets Cove Marina has been rated one of the top ten anchorages in the Western Hemisphere, according to Motor Boating and Sailing magazine! We have reserved slips at the marina http://www.poetscove.com and Beaumont Marine Park is right next-door for those that would prefer to anchor/mooring buoy. http://www.vancouverisland.com/parks/?id=504. This cruise does require clearing Canadian Customs in Bedwell Harbour and is a pre-requisite to our Desolation Sound Cruise. (Participation in prior cruises also counts toward the pre-requisite) Moorage is $1.40/ft per night. There are no additional fees for Ranger Tug and Cutwater owners.

To confirm your attendance please email Marlene at: receptionist@rangertugs.com and she will get you registered. Space is limited.

We will post more details as we get closer to the event but the tentative plan is for Andrew to lead a flotilla out of Anacortes at 9:00am on Thursday, June 2nd.

This trip is the perfect way to start the cruising season. We hope you will join us!

Very new to the terminology, what is a flotilla? Does that mean we need to arrive probably the day before?
thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

A flotilla is just a group of boats. Last year there were probably 15 boats that all cruised up together from Anacortes. I think most people do arrive the night before. It's less stress that way.

Andrew will post with more details when the event nears but it's a fun way to cruise and the factory boats will be heading up as part of the flotilla also.

Thanks for the info. So, we don't have to go on the flotilla, just maybe meet up with everyone in Poets Cove. We are just trying to understand how this all works. We need to figure out time off from work and getting the kids out of school. We never been up past Everett, our boat is in Elliott Bay Marina. We have been researching the nwcruising.net website for an overview on mileage and time. Lots to learn for us!
Lisa

Karl and Lisa, I am going to Poets Cove and I also keep my boat at Elliott bay. I would be happy to journey up there with you (have done it many times). Let me know and we can make arrangements. You can also send me a PM.

Hi Sue!
Thank you for the offering! Once we try and figure out our questions to ask (and there is lots!) I willl PM you!
Lisa

You bet, Lisa! Fun times ahead! What is your slip number at EBM? I am in I-55.

We are L35 at EBM. There are 3 "red" boats on the L dock 😀

Funny! I was originally down in L -65, I think!

Hi all,

the roster is filling up fast for the first official factory cruise of the season!

Once you have registered with Marlene ( receptionist@rangertugs.com ) you are officially signed up. There is no need to contact Poets Cove ahead of time this year. We have reserved the slips and will submit a roster to them a couple weeks before we head up. All you will have to do is radio in for slip assignment when you arrive.

Thanks,

Sam

Since there isn't really a "set" schedule, however, what day should we get to Poets Cove to really hang out with everyone? We did make a reservation at Anacortes for Wednesday night so we could possibly go with the floatilla that Thursday morning. Personally, we are trying to decided when to take time off between work and taking the kids out of school. Less time off means more time off for Desolation. Just wondering on everyone's thoughts.
thanks, Lisa

Thank you to everyone who has registered for the 2016 Poets Cove Cruise! There are still a few people on the waiting list so if you have signed up but are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation with Marlene at receptionist@rangertugs.com asap.

For everyone who is registered, you should have received an email with this information this morning. Please note: you do not need to make dock reservations, we have submitted our registration list to the marina and they have created a docking plan for us. Our dock reservations are for June 2nd-5th. If you plan on arriving earlier or staying later than those dates please contact Poets Cove and make arrangements at 1-888-512-7638. When you arrive at Poets Cove you can hail the marina on VHF channel 66A for your slip assignment (don’t forget to clear customs before heading to your slip). Once you get settled you will pay the marina directly for your moorage.

Last year the weather was beautiful. Cool in the mornings/evenings and hot during the day. We’re hoping for a repeat performance from mother nature but please be prepared for rain just in case. There is a swimming pool at the resort so bring a swimsuit if you would like to swim. There is also a café, restaurant, and a very small store with limited food and beverage supplies. If anyone is interested in Poets Cove’s spa services you can see more info here: Poets Cove Susurrus Spa Info

During the cruise we will be handing out a participant contact list so everyone can stay in touch throughout the Summer. If you would like all or some of your contact info to be omitted from the contact list please email me at sambisset@rangertugs.com with that instruction and I will remove it.
