2017 R23 galvanic isolator

Hello,

Planning on having a galvanic isolator installed on our 2017 R23. Would you please advise us of the best location on the boat to have the isolator installed. Thank you!

Hi Michael,

We usually install the isolator in the aft of the large cockpit storage compartment. This allows for easy access to the bonding wires. I'm not sure on the 27 (can't draw the mental image of the port lazarette) but it can also be installed in a lazarette if that provides a bit better protection from any water intrusion or the like. Here's a pic of how we install the isolator on our 23s. This is a very similar boat to yours, but of course considerably smaller. You should have no issues, but please let me know.

The R23 Yamaha does not completely lift out of the water, which leaves a couple of inches of the engine in the water. There has been several posts about galvanic corrosion on that small part of the engine.
