On both the port and starboard sides of the cabin are the slots for the 'fender tenders" - here is a pix of one like it:

The ring hooks (bottom of pix) are nowhere on the boat so I went looking for them (need 4) ... tried Perko, SeaLife... went to West Marine and Englund marine and I cannot find them - you can get them but the retainer on the ring hook found on everything I have looked at, bought and tried are all too small - fender will become unhooked and gone ...
1) does anyone know who the manufacturer is that RT buys from - or did back in 2017?
I guess worst case is the replace the whole assembly but with my luck, the holes won't line up and I am not excited about putting more screw holes if I can avoid it. Anyone can help???
Many thanks! If you know the manufacturer, I will be happy ... if you know the replacement part number, I would be ecstatic! Doug

Some RT, mine included, has a ladder that fits into these slots on either site. Are there two about a foot apart on each side?

Someone figured out what company they were and did make fender holders out of them, let me see if I can find the old thread

First of all: thanks guys - you may be right about it being a ladder location but I have no ladder that goes there so that is out and frankly on my boat, I need the fender clips a lot worse - no place to put a fender midships.
That said, If I can get enough info that Bolton will know what I am talking about, I can contact them with that info and get some ... or if Bruce HAS access to at least 2 of them, I can buy them from you ... please let me know. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks again Gents! Doug

You don’t need Bolton. You can make these in just a few minutes yourself. For just $5-6 each. Super simple.

They will fit the ladder mounting brackets just fine. If you search there’s a whole thread on how to make them with parts description.

Too bad you don’t have the ladder though. It made it super simple to get up on the roof!

They were made by Bolton at my request as a proof of concept. They worked great. But Bolton decided they wouldn't fit into their production work flow. I no longer have them. I think they moved on with our R-31 when we upgraded to the 43.

Cheers,

Bruce

Thanks anyway Bruce .... glider4 has the easiest solution so I am going to see if I can duplicate his success tomorrow. There are so many things that fit the common sense profile .... but get lost somehow .... but all of these guys have given me ideas that I can make something kool. Many thanks to all of the experience and innovation you guys have! Doug

So this is what I came up with for first pass ... https://photos.app.goo.gl/iy9gvS41LNTKFT2dA
I may need a nylon spacer but I think the size of the flat is big enough to be snug enough to not scratch ... I will know when I got up to boat later this week but so far, so good (and thanks guys for kicking my little squirrel brain out of the box

Based on the photo, the flat looks too big to fit in the slot we had on our R-25 Classic. The thin stainless 8mm jam nut I used to make our fittings was 12.7mm in width. And that was about the widest that would fit inside the slot.
The key was using the spacers+thin washers and jam nut to create a tight fit between to two when inserted into the hull mounted bracket so, once installed, it took a fair amount of lifting to remove the eye bolt. That way the eye bolt wouldn’t come loose inadvertantly.

For mid-ship fenders, we tie the fender lines to the vertical roof rail and store the fenders inside of the railings on the roof. They have never fallen off once and are easy to swing up top to store and pull down for use. By sliding the clove hitch backed up with a half hitch knot up or down on the vertical rail, we adjust the fender position from "High" for protecting the rub rail from concrete walls to "Low" for floating docks.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/qutqdNfg5oLr6okU9 One I made on top/Perko one lower left in photo.
I made this 2nd generation and they work nicely. Everyone has their own methods but here is how I did it:
1 stainless jamnut as one of the other guys posted, plus 1 of the SS machine screw rings ... Cost about $1.25.
I put the nut on and torqued that puppy down until I could feel the threads go super tight (important!) [thread stretch is why you are supposed to always use new bolts in engine rebuilding. In this case, it ensures a good tight fit that will not back off].
Took the cut off wheel on hand grinder (dremel can work too) and cut off excess threads.
Put the finished ring/nut on a bench grinder and took down until the nut same thickness as the Perko fender tender (lower left example), and then buffed with wire wheel. Finished product on top / Perko one is lower left one in the photo. The jam nut is just enough bigger that it lives in the ladder bracket slot whereas the Perko one can fall out. Jam nut will not come off now. The additional diameter of the jam nut is much nicer/better.
This one fit nicely.
Thanks guys for all of your help.

OK ... I couldn't help myself  I put my original ones on my little lathe and turned them down to a PERFECT fit .... good rainy day project ... I just cut the head off a bolt, chucked it into the lathe, spun the threaded flat onto the fixture bolt and took me 20 seconds to turn it down..... https://photos.app.goo.gl/vSh1p5YnQD3eKf9c7
I would not want to do it for a living, but works nice for what I needed and could not buy.
