2017 Ranger R21 Air Conditioner

Noob here...

I have yet to run my factory installed air conditioner.
Is there a separate sea cock for a AC unit?
Also, I believe I can run the AC while underway, yes?

The AC can and should be run under way. The unit is actually 110 volts, and runs off a dedicated inverter It draws about 50 amps at 12 volts, which The Volvo 140 amp alternator can provide easily. The two batteries installed by the factory to run the AC are essentially useless. I have done an extensive re-wiring job on my boat so the AC can be connected to shore power.

There is a separate 110 v sea water pump located under the left berth cushion, along with a sea cock. It is not self priming, and you may want to loosen or remove he sea water strainer cover, with the unit turned on, until water runs out. Check to make sure water is being pumped out of the port side fitting just above the water line.

All that is the good news. The bad news is that the unit is undersized in terms of keeping the boat cool during a hot sunny day. The single layer of thin fiberglass in the cabin structure provides almost no insulation. It is good for keeping things cool at night for sleeping.
