2018 Cutwater C30 transducer depth sensor just stopped a rea

Any suggestions what I should check? I just went boating last month and it was fine. when I put the boat in the ocean this month it just read blank for depth on my 2018 C30 Garmin display. Is there anything I could test or is it just sort of swap and pray that it fixes it?
Anybody know what transducer and part number of might be in case I have to swap it?

Hi serpa4,

You can access the transducer in the v-berth. In the v-berth sole, there is a compartment that you can reach by pulling up the removable teak & holly floor piece. You will see the shower sump and the transducer in black next to it. Remove the transducer from the cup that it is mounted in and check to make sure that the cup is still relatively full of pink fluid. This is an RV type antifreeze that is necessary to have in the cup to allow it to function properly. Check to make sure the cup is full and the transducer should work again. If it does become necessary for the transducer to be replaced, I do believe that you had the Airmar P79 installed. Hope this helps.

Just pulled it. Bone dry.
Put more RV antifreeze in there?

Inspect for o-ring. There should be one installed. Normally the factory does not install one. Or sometime forgets?

After you did that fill with Propylene glycol (RV antifreeze) . Don't fill to the top, half full then wrap a paper towel around the cup. Install transducer and wipe up access fluid until area is clean and dry. Now look for leaks.

I just had the same problem on 2021 C30S
The sealant the factory used was inferior or they just did not clean the area prior to install.
The cup came slightly dislodged and leaked the fluid.
I removed, cleaned with acetone, and reinstalled with 4200 sealant.
Refilled with RV pink antifreeze.
Works perfectly now.

Hello......Old issue, new response! My 2016 C30 sedan has the same "issue" no reading....I pulled the floor piece and sure enough the sump is there, but no transducer. I wonder where else the factory might have put it?? hopefully accessible.

My 2014 C30 has transducer in engine compartment, starboard side front next to the alternator. Look for a cover plate screwed to the floor, remove the plate and there it is. If you have long arms like an octopus you could easily get to it. Otherwise, cut a hole in the mid berth wall.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I can't reach that, with the alternator in the way, but I'll try again.. Do you also happen to know where the wiring connection/routing is? Thanks

If you remove the step into the mid berth you can see the wire harness for the transducer

Thank you for detailed description of the location - I have located it. To cut a hole in the mid berth wall, would this involve removing the step in order to gain access to the ‘wall’? I’m just trying to visualize where to cut the hole.

Yes, remove the step top and side. It's got a couple of screws holding it. Here is a picture.
