Hello all,

A bit early, but I am getting the word out now so you can put it on your calendars. This year it will be August 10, 11 and 12th. As with last year, we are keeping it simple. Friday night pot luck, Saturday morning a boat crawl, then free time to visit the town and a pizza dinner Saturday evening. The Dockmaster offered to arrange Coast Guard inspections by the Auxiliary for those that may be interested. Please e-mail Brian Beltrami if you want an inspection - brianbel@ verizon.net. Your inspection is voluntary and if you fail there is no penalty or cost. The good part is you get a sticker that you place on your boat that signifies that you passed and it often eliminates an unexpected boarding by the Coast Guard when the inspection counts and the fine for failure is real. It is a great opportunity to ensure you are in compliance without the fear of a fine.

The Marina is holding 12 slips at this time and your reservations are to be done directly to them.
Penny is the Dockmaster at Pope's Island Marina in New Bedford:
Pope's Island Marina
102 Pope's Island
New Bedford, MA 02740
508-979-1456

If you plan on attending, please e-mail me to let me know and include your boat model, size, boat name, your's and your guests name, e-mail and phone number. Once you are on the list any additional information etc. will be sent to you as it comes in.

Sincerely,

Mike Rizzo - mrizzo8743@aol.com

Don't worry, all that snow the NE is getting today will soon melt and we will be back to boating in no time.

If anyone wanted to trailer their boat there is a nice boat ramp in Fairhaven. Double ramp with floating dock, about ¼ mile to the marina. There is a $7.00 parking fee per day at the ramp. You could ask the folks at the marina if the rig could be parked in their lot.
As Mike stated email me if you would like a CG inspection. brianbel@verizon.net

Peggy and I will be sailing MON PETIT CHOU CHOU to New Bedford for the gathering. We hopefully will repeat our overnighter in Cuttyhunk again this year. Once you have walked the island and visited the general store, you have seen it all but, it is a reason to spend another night on the boat.

Another re-post for those who may not have seen this. If you plan on attending, the earlier you make reservations the better. The marina can get pretty well booked in the summer.

Peggy and I have made our reservations and are looking forward to the gathering. Hope we have a good turn out for what has been a good time.

Debbie and I also have a reservation and will attend in our Nordic Tug.

I forwarded information about the gathering to the gentleman that purchased our R27, hopefully they will also attend.

Winter Island Yacht Yard is looking forward to attending this year.
We are trying to decide whether we will be coming down by water or towing a boat by truck.
Are there any Tug owners up this way that would like to join/form a flotilla?
Let us know.

I would assume that the WIYY vessel will be going through the canal rather than going outside the Cape. If so with planning, we might be able to link up with you once you are in Buzzards Bay. If we can set a lat and long and a time we could have RT's and Cutwaters rendezvous and sail up the river to Popes Island as a fleet.

That sounds like a great idea. Thanks, John. And Yes, we'd be coming through the canal.
Let's work on this.

Does anyone have photos of last year's gathering we can share?
I'd like to post and show the folks out there what a fun group you all are 🙂
Thanks,
Rosemary at WIYY

Another great time was had by all. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Thanks Mike for organizing it and Winter Island Yachts for your continued support. Today on our trip from Onset MA to Woods Hole MA we crossed paths with Liitle Debbie with its new owner that we met at the the rendezvous. I must add that the staff of Winter Island went above and beyond expectations. Already looking forward to next year.

We were a small group but, again this year it was a lot of fun. Thanks Mike and the WIYY crew. I am looking forward to next year also.
