The main dining table height adjuster clamps are not holding the table steady. When I tried tightening the knurled bolt on the release handle, I realized that either the bolt or the pivot nut in the handle is stripped and I couldn't tighten enough to steady the table. Does anyone know the manufacturer of the table pedestal to be able to order a replacement knurled bolt and pivot nut. Any help would be appreciated.

There is an allen wrench adjustment that loosens over time. Adjust that until you get the desired tightness.

Our 2018 R-31 does not have an Allen wrench adjustment. It does, though, have clamps, and knurled bolts that adjust the force needed to lock the clamps. It is possible to get knurled bolts that do accept hex keys so some model boats may have that style. Ours looks similar or identical to the arrangement shown in the link posted by StrangerDejaVu. Our bolt threads are not stripped—however, when they are tightened to the maximum force where it is still reasonably possible to close the clamps, we have found that the table still slowly drifts downward over a period of weeks. When we find it is hard to fit our legs under the table, it is time to lift it back up again. If anyone has figured out a way to keep it in the upright position, I would be interested in knowing.

If I were trying to find a replacement bolt, I would Google for “thumb-grip stainless steel shoulder screws.” It looks like McMaster probably has them though I didn’t try to pin down the exact replacement:

Thanks John,

Your info on the knurled bolt is correct. I need to know what the threaded nut on the handle end is called. It's about 3/4 inch long and 1/4 inch solid cylindrical with a threaded center horizontally through it. If you could identify the name for this style nut, then I can do a search.

Thanks,
Sonny

Hey Sonny,

The table pedestal is made by Springfield and the part number is 1660230. It is the same as the one that was posted earlier with the link to it, hope this helps.

Thanks,

I believe it’s called a barrel nut or dowel nut.

Thank you everyone for your help. I am in contact with the manufacturer, Springfield. They have been very helpful.

Thanks,
Sonny

It’s good to know that they are responsive and helpful. If Springfield has suggestions for how to more securely lock the table in place, please share with the rest of us. Good luck!

Hi all,

Springfield is sending me the necessary replacement parts under it's 5 year warranty coverage. Customer service was superb and most helpful. They shipped out the parts today, and I am awaiting receipt of them in the next few days. No suggestions with respect to making the table more stable from Springfield rep.
I believe I had read a thread in the Tugnuts regarding customizations some owners made to stabilize the table. I don't remember the search criteria used, but I'm sure that if you search main dinette table you may get results.
Again, thanks to all of you for your help.
Best,
Sonny
