2019 R-29 Rear Most Bilge Pump?

The rear most bilge pump in the engine compartment in our R-29 (the pump under the shaft) operates only on manual mode, not with the automatic float. Could this be debris? Does it just pop out of its location? Thanks!

There is a separate fuse for the automatic switch. Check to see if it’s blown. On my 2011 R29, the fuse is located near the power distribution panel.

Try cleaning, if so equipped, the black rectangle sensor that’s attached to the pump housing. There should be 2 raised circles, at the same time put your finger tips on the 2 circles and hold to see if the pump activates. If it does not you may have a blown fuse otherwise the sensor is dirty. Also to clean the inside of the housing, check the little impeller, etc., release the 2 clips that hold the pump into the housing. By releasing these you’ll be able to take the pump out for inspection. Lastly there should be an O ring at the head of the pump,,,, make sure these is in place when you reinstall in order to have a great seal.

My 2018 R29s has one of the auto bilge bump that "Every 2.5 minutes it cycles to see if there is any water to pump" if there is, the load on the motor tells it to keep pumping...... You can hear that style come on for about 1/2 a second every 2.5 minutes or so.....

2 things - as said before, there is a separate fuse for automatic circuit. and this model is notorious for failing on the automatic circuit.

I have had to replace two since 2018. The job isn't horrible. - there are much worse boat projects.... the pump snaps in the base. It does help if you have longer than normal arms, so you might try to hire an Orangutan..... but it isn't horrible.

Thanks for the info Rocky! I checked and only see one 7.5 fuse for the bilge pump, where’s the second one located?

Well... I am not near my boat and wont be for a week or so...... I don't see the second fuse on the chart in the owners manual .PDF. Possibly my memory was wrong on the fusing this style pump...... Perhaps someone else can chime in about as well.

You can pull the 7.5 amp fuse on the "24/7" panel and see if the pump switch still works. If the switch stops working with the fuse pulled, I would think that there is only one fuse - My thought is there i no need to have the manual switch on a 24/7 panel.....

I'll look closer at my boat when I get back on it....

What's the model of the bilge pump? I have a 2017 R29 CB and didn't get a manual for it. I've had similar issues with the auto pump feature. One thing that's help in the past is running a bilge cleaner solution, but it's being a bit more recalcitrant of late.
