Subject: 2019 R29 CB's dual rocker switch for cabin and rope lights

This is both a question and a FYI to others.

The dual rocker switch is just inside of the cockpit/cabin door on starboard side. One rocker control the overhead cabin lights and the other the hidden rope/string lights running along the upper side edges of the cabin ceiling.

Every now and then when both sets of lights are on, they suddenly turn off, and the switches become inoperative no matter how many times they are rocked on/off. However, there were times when the overhead cabin lights (they're LEDs) glowed very dimly, almost as if there was a dimmer switch in the lighting circuit somewhere.... very weird if you ask me. 😱

I checked the fuses in the rear of the cave inside the small square panel door and found two 10 amp fuses in the large starboard side fuse block: one marked "Cabin" and the other marked "Misc". I checked them and they were good.

Question for RT: Why on earth is one of these fuses marked "Misc" ?

I reached up to get my fingers on the backside of the dual rocker switch and all wires appear to be connected and not loose.

Next I pulled the dual rocker switch off by removing its two screws (using small square bit). Pulling the complete switch module out so I could see all the wire/spade connections I discovered what I think was the ground wire jumper from one switch to the other, was a bit 'wonky' on one of the switch spades. I removed this 'wonky' connector and crimp it down some and securely reseated it onto the switch spade. Both switches now worked properly, and both the cabin overhead lights and the rope lights could be turned on/off repeatedly.... and so far they've stayed on without the initial issue arising.

Hope this may help others if they run into the same issue. 🙂

[EDIT] I give credit to RT's Kenny Marr and Tim Bates for their consultation about this issue. Thank you both. 🙂
