Why is the large heat vent in the stateroom and a much smaller heat vent in the salon that is filled with wonderful windows that let in the cold?
On cold days, the stateroom overheats while the salon never gets warm. The only solution I have figured out is a length of 3.5" diameter heating duct. Take the vent cover off the stateroom vent, shove the duct into the vent, secure with shoe. put the other end of the duct in the salon, secure with other shoe. Now the stateroom gets almost no direct heat and the salon gets much more, which works great. This is a finicky system and just barely touching the shoe in the salon means the duct snaps back into the stateroom and needs to be re-setup. Are there better ways to distribute more heat to the salon than the stateroom?

Other, related heat issue is that if you close the stateroom door/lid for the night (which I prefer not to do, but sometimes needs to be done in a marina), the stateroom gets so much hotter than the salon and than in the cave where the Webasto thermostat is, that you have to set the thermostat to 59 degrees or so to keep from overheating the stateroom, while still getting some heat through the night. Is there a way to have a Webasto thermostat sensor in the stateroom?

Thanks,

Look at my 2/14/25 post. No shoes required!!!! I am wondering why these boats still have uneven heat. I would talk to Ranger since your boat is relatively new. Mine is 2017 R29.

I have tried and failed to find your post. Could you repost it here or give me a link to it. I would say there is still uneven heat since Ranger has not changed the system since the redesign and we both have the newer style RT 29s.

I did this on 2017 R29 NW:
1) moved temperature controller from cave to left side of berth entry, upgraded to 3.0 control.... not easy to fish wires!!!
2) added cabin air intake under wine cooler (just two feet of 4" straight duct)
3) moved temp sensor from Webasto unit to 3.0 controller
4) added 1" foam tinfoil board between Webasto and fridge and kept clear of hot exhaust (for noise reduction and keep heat away from fridge)
5) added Webasto 1" dia intake combustion muffler (sold by Webasto)

Default temp sensor location is on Webasto. New wire harness had a temp sensor that goes from 3.0 controller to Webasto.

Check to see if your temperature controller senses temp at controller or at Webasto. Use a hair dryer on low pointed at controller to check this.

Webasto was running off bilge air temperature and using bilge air to heat. Totally stupid!!!! Now life is great with the modifications..... consistent temperature and 3-5db quieter
