Any recommendations on what to use to reattach the stainless heat shield to the fiberglass. The marina where we are said stainless is tough to glue. They scrapped off the silicone the factory used and offered to use a similar product. I was almost thinking of just using the stainless to make a template on thin starboard and then wrapping it in vinyl before glueing it to the underside in place of the stainless piece. I removed the kenyan grill that was there so no worried about melting the vinyl. We fill that compartment with ice and drinks on our trips. But the starboard and vinyl might be too thick to close properly.

Can't get safari to link to photo in my album, but I did put a picture there.

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

We use Sikaflex for the adhesive on these panels, but if that is not easily at hand, 3M 4200 is a good substitute. I suspect that this is probably what your marina may be recommending. You can potentially use starboard, as it does come in thin sheets as well. You'd have to check your local supplier. Just don't forget to not use the grill without that heat shield. 😉

Cheers,

Ralf

Used the same vinyl that’s on the helm dash. Spradling Beluga in Mocca. Turned out better than I thought it would and it’s much lighter to open since it weighs much less than the stainless did.
