Hello

I have a 2014 21EC with the factory AC system run by an inverter. The question is not about how well it cools. It really seems to do OK up here in New England, with our cold seawater and not ridiculous temperatures. Question is, how long will it run aided by shore power? My boat is on a mooring, so I have no way of testing how well the boat's battery charger can keep up with the AC. It obviously draws far more power than can be stored in the two batteries. But - If I'm lucky, it won't run continuously. Can any of you comment on whether the AC works generally OK overnight plugged into shore power? Its batteries can then be recharged by the engine the next day. We are planning an Erie Canal trip, and wonder how much we can depend on the AC to keep us cool at night.

Thanks

Hello,

Is your unit a Dometic? If so, at the dock you will get about 4 hours continues use. You have a 20 amp charger and a 30 amp AC unit I believe. If you're underway the engine's alternator will output enough power to run the unit the entire time you're under way. Which was our intention, more for underway use than dock side use.

Thanks,
-Kenny

It is a Dometic. Thanks for info - If I was able to get adequate comfort with it running half time it might make it through the night. Anyone else have experience on this?
