In my ongoing internal debate about moving from the 21EC to an R23, I have a few questions for anyone who has made the move up.

How would you compare the handling characteristics at slow speed? (There is no high speed for the 21EC.) Specifically, in the reaction to beam waves/wakes. I'm plenty familiar with the rolling characteristics of the 21ec, and have learned to adjust course and speed accordingly. I've read a number of people express surprise at how 'tippy' the 23 feels. With the heavier weight and wider beam, does the 23 feel more stable as one would hope, or does the absence of an engine low on the centreline coupled with a planing hull negate those elements?

How do you compare visibility from the helm in close quarters?

We wonder whether we will miss the 'screen porch' view from our sun-and-rain protected enclosed cockpit. I know an enclosure can be made for the 23, but I'm disinclined towards that. Do the two stern cabin openings on the 23 substantially increase the connection from inside to outside? Has anyone fitted screens to them? Have you worked out enhanced sunshade on the cockpit? The short Bimini on the 23 is my least favourite element from both an aesthetic and functional view.
