3.5 liter eco boost as a tow truck

Looking for anyone who has first hand experience towing an R25OB with a Ford F150 4x4 powered with their 3.5 liter eco boost 6 cylinder? 14,000 max towing, 400hp at 6,000 rpm’s and 500lbs-Ft of torque at 3100 rpm’s? Good, bad or otherwise.

I tow my 2008 R25c with a 2020 3.5EB supercrew longbed. I live on a small island in SE Alaska with only 30 miles of paved road though so nothing above about 45 really. The truck has the power to pull 100% without issue the only thing is the stock rear suspension is a little soft and you can get some bounce while towing. I’ve considered some assistive aux springs and such but have not tried it yet. Again I tow but only a few times per year to launch and retrieve. A proper load distribution hitch is a must for longer distance in my opinion … or a larger truck if your going cross country.
 
It will have plenty of power and stopping ability, but the downside is the light weight of the newer F150’s. The trailer can push the truck around with bad ruts or when passed by large trucks. I tow our C28 with my Ecoboost CCSB and it does fine for a 100 miles or so of relatively flat road but I wouldn’t tow cross country or any serious hills with it.

From what I am able to find, to get that 14,000lb max tow capacity will require a weight distribution hitch for trailers weighing above 5,000lbs. If your trailer is aluminum, check to see if it is approved for use with a weight distribution hitch by the manufacturer. Many aren’t.

I just got the hybrid power boost, 4wd, and it is towing my R23 much better than my old F150, and I love all electric in town when not towing.
 
i used a 150 ford eco boost tow package- it has the power but the truck itself gets pushed around and the front tires can "float" a bit going down the road - i finally upgraded to a ram cummins diesel (got the 350 series as i was towing a 27 ranger back from california to wi) but the 250 models would work just as well. I avoided diesels for years and but now wish i would have gone to a diesel sooner. So my recommendation would be to at least get a 3/4 ton truck with tow package and diesel if it fits the budget.
