Went into the local West Marine store to buy a 50 amp splitter. The salesman, an experienced boater who’s provided good advice over the years, pointed out two types. The main difference seems to be in the connector that plugs into the shore pedestal; one has a flat metal piece at the inside top of the connector, the other does not.

Would appreciate any advice on this one!

TIA!

Not sure what your getting at... all 50A splitters have the same keyed male plug that connects to the shore power pedestal.

The 50 amp shore power pedestal can either accept a 50amp 125V or a 50amp 125/250V male plug. These plugs are different and are not compatible. When you purchase a Y adaptor or straight adaptor for your 30amp system you need to know what 50amp service the marina has.
