This weekend Karma will reach another milestone. Her hour meter will record her 500th hour. And, what a 500 hours it has been. We have visited the Gulf Islands, San Juan’s, and Victoria twice. She has made her way as far north as Desolation Sound. Along this journey she has stopped in the Ports of Friday Harbor, Poets Cove, Salt Springs Island, and Gibsons to just mention a few.
She has crossed the Straits of Juan de Fuca six times and the Straits of Georgia twice. She has passed through Dodd Narrows as well as Deception Pass.
Alas, not all of our travels in Karma have been limited to just the PNW. Karma has also experienced the San Francisco Bay and Shasta Lake in Northern California.
At times we have traveled as a solitary vessel or in the company of others. We have seen Bald Eagles, Deer, Whales, Seals, and Great Blue Herons just to mention a few.
We have hung on the hook as well as hung out in marinas. We have traveled in sunshine that is so incredible you cannot understand why people complain about the weather in the PNW, to weather so foul, you wonder why you would have a boat here at all.
We have met people of all walks of lives from weekend sailors to world travelers such as Diana and Alvin Simon of New Zealand.
But, the best part of all is, we have met some of the most incredible people right here in the PNW that we call our friends. These are the people that have made this entire experience so special. This group of friends stretches all the way from the South Sound to Salt Springs Island and everywhere in between. There are even a few that live as far East as Montana and VA!
In these 500 hours, Karma has consumed 1855 gallons of diesel at a cost of $5,225.00. Her burn rate has been 2.7 GPH at an average cruise speed of seven knots. We have logged 2,742 miles of some of the most incredible scenery that you could ever imagine!
Tomorrow, the new adventure begins. Another 500 hours of cruising in Karma.
Thanks to all of you that have been such a great part of this adventure!
