The Admiral (Ida) has been here now since the 19th of November, and has kept me busy looking at homes, property, neighborhoods, and all matters associated with the move from the Greatland. The last couple of days here in Anacortes have been calm and the sun decided to come out yesterday, and with light winds, I talked her into taking a couple hours off and spend a little "therapy" time on "Adventurer". I told her that we could look at "waterfront" and "view" property better this way. We cruised the waterfront, Guemes channel, and over to Samish Island. What a great afternoon. We had talked with friends in the Anchorage area and Sterling, AK with temps at or below 0. So the 44 degrees here with the engine heater on low (works great) we had a fun, comfortable afternoon. That big, bright thing in the sky (something we didn't see alot of in Alaska during the winter) is good for the soul. I LOVE THIS BOAT!!!!!!

Willie and I try to follow the sun, but you sure have picked a fine place to live. We really enjoyed our summer in Anacortes and vicinity. Looks like we will return to the area in June.

Randy & Ida --- Normally I try to discourage people from moving here, what with the rain, fog, wind, etc. But since you are the owners of an R25, you are obviously good people. So I won't close the gate until after you have moved in. I retired in 1995 and we moved here about eight years ago. It took over a year of searching for the right house, but it was worth the effort. Houses move slowly here. All it takes is patience. Auklet is at Cap Sante. I see by the map that you are at Anacortes Marina. That's probably why we haven't seen each other out on the bay. Our cruising is mostly day picnics to the many small islands around here. Whatever your cruising style, we've got it. Welcome to Anacortes.

Cary & Pat, Thanks for the welcome and letting us in, but I already knew the secret as I grew up around this area and spent alot of time on the water here in the San Juans. You are right about the housing. The majority look to be on the market 6 months to a year or more. However, we have been seeing anything with a view move in a shorter time period.

Your cruising style mirrors ours as well. After living in Alaska for so long and seeing the beauty of the "Greatland", I had forgotten how beautiful Washington is, especially the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. I wanted to return here when I retired in 2001, but we had to wait for Ida to retire this May. Maybe sometime this spring we can meet up on the water. There are two more Tugnuts in B'ham, Ruth & Joe on R-Matey (R-25SC) and "Charlie" in a new R-27. We could have a convoy to the Islands. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
