My A/C keeps going to HPF and stopping. I clean my strainer monthly and back flush all the lines. Normally this alleviates the problem. However, this time it is not correcting. I have water flow all the way thru the pump but when I turn on the A/C i cannot feel the pump kick in. Not sure if there is flow thru the pump that this implies that the pump is primed. If not how do I correctly prime the pump. I always open the seacock with the filter off to verify that there is good flow. No problems there. On the discharge side of the pump water comes out but it doesn't appear to be by pressure.

Cannot find where the relay is for this pump or even trace the wire. Has anyone have any ideas as it is not on my schematics.

I'm still trying to find my way around my Tug 25SC, now specifically with a problem similar to what you were having. HPF error keeps happening. Cleaned strainer and replaced clear plastic cover and can see there is air in the line. Is there a method for removing the air bubble from the line going to the AC unit? Thinking of installing a bleeder valve near the strainer but don't know the feasibility of it since we are probably right at sea level there. Could also be used to flush out the AC unit. Any thoughts on this idea??? Would appreciate any insights you might have. Joe

This happens to me any time I pull the boat out of the water and then relaunch. The pump is not self priming. When I launch the boat and then return to a dock with shore power I turn breaker on to the air unit take the lid off strainer and fill the stainer with water and turn the air on ,put the lid on and its good to pump again. If I go for a cruise first and bring the boat up to speed this is not always necessary because the thru hull intake is a scoop type and it sometimes primes it. I still use my priming procedure any way, to insure it is primed.

The pump should kick on when the air unit is turned on and temperature adjustment is needed. As soon as the pump kicks on there should be water discharging from the boat if not in a short period of time a code will appear. I'm speculating from here on because I've never let it run past the code. It may have a type if bi-metal breaker or a sensor relay to shut the pump down if it gets to hot. If the pump is not turning on there is no water flow, primed or not primed and the code will display. You may have something else going on. Refer to the troubleshoot guide in the owners manual.

Thanks. I was thinking about a lift for the boat and you presented a downside I hadn't considered. The prior owner advised me to make sure before raising the lift to make sure the seacock is closed, trapping seawater in the line before the source is removed by lifting. Hadn't gotten to that part of the equation yet.

Good morning. I’m not sure if you can make this modification on your boat but here’s what I did on my 21 with A/C. I had the same issue getting the pump primed when we took her out of the water. I placed a “Tee” with a male water hose connection in the hose as it exits the through hull fitting. If the A/C pump gets air in the line and won’t prime I connect a hose from the sink to the Tee adapter and purge the air from the line as the A/C system starts up. Once the air is purged I shut off the through hull, recap the Tee and the system works great.
Cheers,
Karl

Thanks Karl. Sounds like a great and simple solution. I'll give it some thought. Joe

Our dealer recommended closing all thru hull fittings each time the boat is put on our lift or trailer. They stated it is best for the impellers to not dry out as well as keeping all systems primed.
