I’ve been meaning to post these modifications to my 2016 R27 Classic for some time now. I began just wanting to plug all the exposed screw heads (there’s a lot of them) and that quest continues. Here’a link to my album with a few of many mods.

Nice. Where are you getting your Teak?

My teak comes from PJ White, a wholesaler in Victoria BC. The cost will make you squeamish; about $30/ board foot. I’ve used every little bit.start with the large items and think of things to do with the cuttings. Even found a use for the shavings. Makes great fire starter with the inherent oils!

Another source of teak is http://www.island-teak.com. Island Teak will ship but I usually drop by the Island Teak factory by appointment. This company is a one man operation with the man not always at the factory. Island Teak will do custom cutting to minimize waste. i.e. you do not need to limit your selection to plank sizes shown on the web site.

I first cut away the wall carpet so I could glue a curved plywood cleat to the fibreglass. There is some blocking where the deck and bulkhead meet so I was able to get a few screws in to hold them in place until the adhesive dried. Once those are in it simply a matter of cladding. I made up some teak t&g but you could bend 1/8” ply over the blocking. I cut a curved bottom rail and fixed to the blocking with screws and teak plugs. The slope at the bottom of the bulkhead allowed for a raceway to locate the television wiring. I made a sloped keystone to mount the TV. It also made the whole job easier as it divided the curved parts in two segments. I built a cabinet to house my PVR from home and connected to the tv with a HDMI cable. We Use the PVR for practically everything we watch so we have plenty of content for our boat trips. Just disconnect from the tv and throw it in the boat. Works great.
